Practical tips for visiting Berlin

Use public transport as you wander around Berlin - according to the latest surveys, it was voted the best public transport in the world! Public transport includes buses, metro (U-bahn), trams (S-bahn) and trains. You can also purchase the Berlin Welcome Card, which gives you discounts on entrance fees to many museums and monuments and includes unlimited travel within the AB or ABC zones, depending on your needs.

The highlight of the cultural season is the Berlin Film Festival, which has been awarding the prestigious Golden Bear since 1951. If you would like to see the festival, reserve the second half of February in your calendar.

Berlin is also alive at night - many clubs and bars are open all night. If you like music, dancing and fun, you should definitely not miss one of these venues. You can enjoy techno at the Berghain club (Address: Am Wriezener Bahnhof, Friedrichshain), which opens from Friday midnight to Monday morning, or at the Tresor club (Address: Köpenicker Str. 70, Mitte). You can enjoy the beautiful atmosphere on a boat at Kater Blau (Address: Holzmarktstraße 25, Friedrichshain).
